Please no more fun on H1

Day 4: Pfeiffer Big Sur --> San Simeon State Beach

Miles: 69.04
Elev gain: 5,437 ft
Pint count:  8.5 jesus (21.5 total)

OHHH boy. Today was BRUTAL. I'd say we were victims of the reverse physchological phenomenon that we experienced yesterday. Instead of being nervous and focused, we jumped on our ride today, drunk w overconfidence and arrogance from our epic ride the day prior. Big mistake. We were immediately humbled by a massive 2.5mi climb, which really set the pace for the rest of the day. Turns out today was WAYYY harder than yesterday. I mean 5.5k in veticle feet yall, that's like more than a mile. So uh, Happy Birthday Pat.

Birthday boy had some struggles today. On the final climb of the day I lost him. About 7 min later he squeaked up to my turn out spot at the apogee. He looked at me and full dead-pan. "I'm not having fun anymore". He was genuinely upset. But here's the thing, Pretentous Pat has been using this like super fancy non-cancerous sun screen which makes him look like some sort of glowing translucent alien. But like this hippy sunscreen doesnt even work so hes got all these sun burn patches as well. Its fucking funny! So I giggled which made the energy even more terse. We didnt speak for 5 or 6 miles oops.

Here's a pic of Cancer-Free Sunburnt Alien Pat.

Happy birthday buddy I love you.

We got outta Big Sur and everything changed. 20 miles of flat biking AND elephant seals. That really cheered up PP, just look at him!

These seals are HILARIOUS. We watched them for 10 or so min before making our way to birthday dinner (on sammy).

Unlike Pat I've been lathering up on dat cancer sause every day and I look great. BUT I'm wearing my bike gear from my first tour in 2005 (8th grade), so my shirt runs up a bit on my back. Take a peak...

Ouch!!

OK that's it for today. We have a MUCH easier day tomorrow, so we have time to rest our legs, which is good cus they feel like Greek columns right now, yo.

Much Love, thanks for reading! Go Giants.

  1. I literally just laughed out loud to this sentence: "Pretentous Pat has been using this like super fancy non-cancerous sun screen which makes him look like some sort of glowing translucent alien." LOL. I think that is one of the funniest things I've ever read! Glad to hear your day turned out better! Seals!! How fun!!
